
Deputy Commissioner visits embankment of Sutlej river.
Nawanshahr/Bhalachaur- In view of the monsoon season and to protect the embankment from the flow of water in Sutlej river, Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh today inspected the embankment of the river in Balachaur sub-division along with the concerned officials and directed the officials to complete the stone laying work going on at Rail Majra by July 15.
Nawanshahr/Bhalachaur- In view of the monsoon season and to protect the embankment from the flow of water in Sutlej river, Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh today inspected the embankment of the river in Balachaur sub-division along with the concerned officials and directed the officials to complete the stone laying work going on at Rail Majra by July 15.
Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, while visiting the Rail Majra premises and taking stock, directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate to take regular information about the progress of the stone laying work so that this work can be completed in the stipulated time.
The officials told the Deputy Commissioner that the work of laying stones is going on at two places on the embankment of Sutlej river in Rail Majra premises, which will cost about one crore rupees. He said that after completion of the work, the embankment will get new strength and the surrounding villages will get relief from the flood situation.
While inspecting Rail Majra Chau, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials that the flow of water in the Chau should not stop under any circumstances so that the residents of the surrounding villages do not have to face any kind of trouble. Taking stock of the current condition of Kathgarh Chau, the Deputy Commissioner asked the officials of the Canal Department to get the Chau cleaned in the next 10 days so that the continuity of the flow of water can be made more smooth.
The officials said that the work of extracting sand from the Chau is being started soon which will be completed in the next two weeks and the government will also get proper revenue from this. He also inspected Tonsa Chau and gave necessary instructions to the officials. Ankurjit Singh reached village Auliyapur and discussed with the officials on the proposal of stone stud work for the protection of the embankment.
The officials said that the tender process for this work costing Rs 70 lakh has been completed and tenders will be issued in the next few days. He said that this work will start as soon as the tender process is completed.
