FIRs registered against illegal mining at three places under Majri police station

Executive Engineer Drainage-cum-Mining and Geology, District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Akash Aggarwal said that under the zero tolerance policy against illegal mining in the district, illegal mining is being identified by the officials of the department by continuous field checking.
He said that during this checking campaign, the field officers of the department found indications of illegal mining activities in Burana, Lubangarh and Salempur Khurd, on which three separate FIRs have been registered against them at Majri police station under Section 4 (1) and 21 (1) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act. He said that the unknown people involved in illegal mining at these places and the ownership of the land are being investigated so that they can be brought to the fore as soon as possible.
According to Executive Engineer Akash Aggarwal, about 3.42 lakh cubic feet of soil was found illegally mined in Burana, while about 1.05 lakh cubic feet of gravel and sand were found mined in Lubangarh. About 22,700 cubic feet of gravel and sand were found mined in Salempur Khurd.
He further said that if any person or Gram Panchayat has information about illegal mining around their village, then they should immediately bring it to the notice of the mining officials so that police and departmental action can be taken against those found responsible under the campaign against illegal mining in the district.
He once again clarified that mining is not allowed by the department at any place in the district except the desilting site of Banur Weir. Let us tell you that this is the fifth case of illegal mining registered by the department under Majri police station during the last one week.
