SAS Nagar, February 06, 2025: Taking seriously the illegal encroachment on Municipal Council land and construction by circumventing building bye-laws in Lalru Municipal Council area, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain has ordered the Municipal Council to take action against the offenders in accordance with law without any delay.
Reviewing the encroachment issue today at District Administrative Complex, SAS Nagar along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (UD) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Executive Officer Gurbakshish Singh and Assistant Municipal Engineer Hardeep Singh, she said that all urban local bodies should take the illegal encroachment and construction by circumventing building bye-laws seriously. Otherwise, the Municipal Council will be held responsible for dereliction of duty for ignoring the encroachment/illegal construction.
The Deputy Commissioner made it clear that illegal occupation of government land or non-payment of notified fee for drawing lots may lead to encroachment and illegal construction in future which may become a serious problem for the general public, besides causing loss to the state revenue. Apart from taking police help, he directed the Nagar Parishad to clear the encroachment and take action against illegal construction by appointing District Magistrate from Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
She said that some of the pond land in Lalru which has become a victim of encroachment should be cleared and converted into a park or playground. The Deputy Commissioner said that other Nagar Parishads should also take care to get rid of illegal encroachments in their areas.
