Nawanshahr- Sugarfed Punjab Managing Director Dr. Sonu Duggal made a surprise visit to Nawanshahr Sugar Mill along with a team of senior officials. During this visit, he inspected the performance of the mill during the ongoing crushing season and took a report of the ongoing works from the mill officials.
He directed the mill officials to make every effort to run the crushing season smoothly and achieve the targets set during the crushing season. He said that there are strict instructions from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann that sugarcane farmers should not face any kind of problem. He appealed to the farmers to bring clean sugarcane to the mill and the binding material should be up to one percent as per the prescribed standards.
During this, the technical team of Sugarfed Punjab also examined the binding material coming with the supply of sugarcane to the mill, which was found to be slightly higher than the prescribed standards. In view of this, the technical team directed the officials of the sugarcane department of the mill to improve the sugarcane supply and supply fresh, clean, non-rusting sugarcane to the mill and motivate the landowners to reduce the amount of binding material and supply the right kind of sugarcane on the scheduled date as per the demand slip. The mill officials told the Managing Director that the crushing season of the mill is going on smoothly at present.
The mill has crushed about 12.31 lakh quintals of sugarcane so far and the mill is getting on-date sugar recovery of 8.80 percent. He informed that the mill has produced 87810 quintals of sugar so far and the outstanding payment till 31.01.2025 for the sugarcane purchased by the mill during the crushing season 2024-25 has been made to the landowners. On this occasion, General Manager Morinda-cum-Cane Incharge (Sugarfed) Punjab Arvinder Pal Singh Kairon, Incharge Engineering Department (Sugarfed) T.P.S. Bhalla, Deputy Chief Accounts Officer (Sugarfed) Gaurav Kumar and others were present.
