Kavi Sammelan organized in Hindi Department

Chandigarh, February 3, 2025- Kavi Sammelan was organized by the Sahitya Parishad of Hindi Department, Punjab University, Chandigarh. The objective of this event was to promote Hindi poetry and encourage new talents. Researchers and students from various departments of Punjab University participated in it. Prof. Ashok Kumar welcomed the guests, Prof. Naveen Gupta, Head of the Department of Microbiology and all the participants and listeners.

Chandigarh, February 3, 2025- Kavi Sammelan was organized by the Sahitya Parishad of Hindi Department, Punjab University, Chandigarh. The objective of this event was to promote Hindi poetry and encourage new talents. Researchers and students from various departments of Punjab University participated in it. Prof. Ashok Kumar welcomed the guests, Prof. Naveen Gupta, Head of the Department of Microbiology and all the participants and listeners.
Senior researchers Mamta Kalra and Rahul were present as chairpersons in the program. The participants presented their self-composed poems in 5-7 minutes. A total of ten participants enthusiastically recited their poems composed in Hindi language. These included C.D.O.E. Pawan and Poonam, graduate students from the Department of Hindi, Khaliq from the Urdu Department, Arvind Kaushik from the Statistics Department, researcher Mamta Kalra from the Hindi Department, student Kanika Sharma (MA 2nd year), Narayan Singh (MA 2nd year), Pawan Sharma (MA 2nd year) and Mamta Kumari (MA 1st year) were present.
Many topics like Mahabharata, nature, love, God; many emotions like vigour, beauty and many forms of poems like shayaris, chhands, ghazals, muktaks were presented, which captivated the audience.
Making the presidential remarks after the recitation of poems, researcher Mamta Kalra said that poetry is an expression of emotions and feelings, which is present in every person in more or less form. Researcher Rahul told how one poem impresses the audience only by being different from the other.
In the end, the Head of the Department, Prof. Ashok Kumar thanked the guest, participants and the audience and encouraged all the participants by giving them certificates. He said that such programs are an effort by the Hindi department to provide a platform to young talents, which will continue in the future as well.
