Nawanshahr- District Administration, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman is celebrating the completion of 10 years of 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' scheme initiative. Under this, a series of activities are being organized for the entire one and a half months (from January 24 to March 8, 2025) for the safety of girls and women in the district.
Giving this information, District Program Officer Jagroop Singh said that the activities will conclude on the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, 2025. He said that under this program, Prabhatpheri will be taken out at the block level regarding the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' scheme with the cooperation of children of schools and colleges and local leaders.
He said that educational programs and awareness camps will be organized in collaboration with the concerned departments about gender sensitivity in schools and colleges, menstrual hygiene for women and girls, laws related to child safety for the general public. He said that women and girls, especially girls, will be made aware about hygiene and gender equality during menstruation in schools.
He said that camps will be organized in public places and educational institutions in collaboration with the Health Department to spread awareness about the PC PNDT Act. The District Program Officer said that a tree plantation campaign will be run to make the general public aware about a clean and hygienic environment, under which saplings will be planted to make school and college children realize their responsibility towards the environment. Similarly, sessions for financial literacy will be organized for children in collaboration with banks, so that they can use their money or budget at the right place in the coming future.
He said that bike and cycle rallies will be taken out to create awareness about Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana and PCPNDT Act. Apart from this, a campaign will be run to enroll girls and women in the career counseling program from 2 to 8 March 2025. He called upon the entire community of the district to actively participate in the above activities and provide necessary support for the education of girls and women empowerment.
