
Delicious tableaux presented by various departments on the occasion of Republic Day

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 27th January 2025: During the district level Republic Day celebrations held yesterday at Shaheed Major Harminderpal Singh (Shaurya Chakra) Government College, Mohali at Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, various types of tableaux presented by various departments of the Punjab Government to make people aware of the needs of the present time became the center of attraction for the Chief Guest Shri Barinder Kumar Goyal, Cabinet Minister Punjab and the guests present.
Giving information, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary said that on the initiative of Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Ashika Jain, the Health Department brought out a tableau under the Punjab Government's mission 'Healthy Punjab' to prevent non-communicable diseases. Through this tableau, people were made aware that non-communicable diseases are long-term diseases and do not spread directly from one person to another, such as cancer, heart disease, respiratory disease, blood pressure, diabetes, HIV. TB etc. The main objective of this tableau was to create awareness for their prevention and treatment.
The tableau presented by the Forest Department showed that there are four ranges of Khamano, Derabassi, Mohali and Siswan in SAS Nagar under the Forest Division Department, where unique species of trees and animals of the Shivalik hills live. There is an abundance of natural resources here, and this area is famous for its biodiversity. The tableau also highlighted the major works being done by the department such as extensive plantation programme, protection of forests, forest conservation, and construction of check dams etc. Apart from this, with the aim of providing employment opportunities, workshops and self-employment campaigns such as Forest Rakhi, desi sweets and other products were promoted by women self-help groups.
After this, it was informed through a joint tableau presented by the Agriculture Department and the Punjab Pollution Control Board that during the year 2024-25, 191 machines for the management of stubble were provided by the Agriculture Department at a subsidy of Rs. 3.57 crore. With the contribution of the District Administration and the Punjab Pollution Control Board, 7 industries in Mohali district are using stubble in industrial boilers. Apart from this, an industry is setting up a plant in Derabassi to make pellets from straw, which will enable proper management of 60-70% of the straw generated in Mohali district.
The Punjab Police, through its tableau, presented a scenario depicting the services being provided by Saanjh Kendras and digital scam fraud in India, where scammers were shown impersonating law enforcers or government officials who cheat people by threatening them with a false case and digitally arresting them. Apart from this, awareness was also created about those who cheat by luring them with fake loan app investments and crypto currencies. Giving a message to the people to avoid these incidents, they were asked to immediately inform on the toll free number 1930 if they come across any such fraud.
The tableau of Verka Mohali Dairy by Verka, a famous cooperative institution of Punjab, has shown various systems and products of Milkfed. It was informed that milk is collected from farmers in 1397 milk societies of villages and the milk is sent to the milk plant where after checking the quality of milk about 6,50,000 liters of milk and milk products (curd, lassi, paneer and kheer etc.) are produced and after that the milk and milk products are packed in packets and delivered to the markets of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi.
