
The District Task Force launched a campaign to prevent child begging and child labor in the district
Nawanshahr - According to the guidelines issued by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa (IAS) and Director Social Security and Women and Child Development Department, Punjab, a campaign is being conducted by the District Task Force to prevent child begging and child labor in the district. Due to which checking is being done in different places of the district for the last few days to prevent child begging and child labour.
Nawanshahr - According to the guidelines issued by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa (IAS) and Director Social Security and Women and Child Development Department, Punjab, a campaign is being conducted by the District Task Force to prevent child begging and child labor in the district. Due to which checking is being done in different places of the district for the last few days to prevent child begging and child labour.
This checking is being done under the leadership of District Child Protection Officer Kanchan Arora. Under this series, checking was done in Main Road, Garshankar Road, Bus Stand Road and Main Bazar of Banga Block. And no child was found doing child labor by the team But four children aged six to 12 were found begging. After rescuing the children, the team has presented it to the Child Welfare Committee Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
Appropriate action will be taken after the committee verifies the documents of the children. District Child Protection Officer Kanchan Arora said that according to the order of the Director Social Security and Women and Child Development Department, checks regarding child labor and child alms are being done throughout Punjab. So that immigrants from other states can be prevented from begging in Punjab and the future of begging children can be made brighter by connecting them with education.
The District Child Protection Officer appealed to the general public not to beg from children below the age of 18 years and if any child below the age of 18 years is seen begging then inform the District Child Protection Unit or the Child Protection Unit. Helpline number 1098 should be given. Rajinder Kaur Child Protection Officer, who was present on this occasion, told whether a person who begs from children between zero and 18 years of age can be punished with a sentence of up to two years and a fine of 1 lakh rupees under the Juvenile Justice Act.
