
Free treatment for road accident victims under Farishte Scheme: Civil Surgeon
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 13: Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain said that under the 'Farishte' scheme launched by the Punjab Government, road accident victims get free treatment in government and listed private hospitals. Apart from this, a passerby or helper who takes a road accident victim to the nearest listed hospital is given an honorarium of Rs 2000 and a letter of appreciation as per the government policy.

Dr. Sangeeta Jain and Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Parwindpal Kaur have appealed to as many private hospitals in the district as possible to get registered under the 'Farishte' scheme. They said that the aim of the 'Farishte' scheme is to ensure timely quality treatment to road accident victims in the nearest listed government and private hospitals. Health officials said that private hospitals should contribute as much as possible in this big task of public welfare.
They appealed to the people to take any road accident victim to the nearest hospital on time so that his precious life can be saved. He said that the main objective of this scheme is to save the precious life of the road accident victim. The 'Golden Hour' is very important for saving the precious life of the victims. This is the first crucial hour after the accident, during which if the seriously injured person gets proper care, then his chances of survival increase.
It is worth mentioning that under this scheme, 7 government and 16 private hospitals are listed in district SAS Nagar, where road accident victims can go for free treatment. The assistant of the accident victim will be given honorarium through these hospitals only. These listed government hospitals include hospitals in Mohali, Kharar, Derabassi, Kurali, Banur, Dhakoli, Gharuan, while listed private hospitals include Fortis Mohali, Amar Hospital Mohali, Healthshore Multispeciality Hospital Gharuan, Chaudhary Hospital Kurali, Grecian Hospital Mohali, Sukhmani Multispeciality Zirakpur, Mehar Hospital Zirakpur, Cheema Medical Complex Mohali, Indus Hospital Derabassi and Mohali, Trinity Hospital Zirakpur, Sohna Hospital, Kaushal Hospital Kharar, Holy Basil Hospital Kharar, My Hospital Mohali, Alpha Chandigarh Hospital Gharuan.
