
Review of MPLAD and Central Schemes by Lok Sabha Members Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi and Malvinder Singh Kang
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 9, 2025: During the meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) held here today, Chairman Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi (Member, Lok Sabha, Patiala Parliamentary Constituency) and Co-Chairman Malvinder Singh Kang (Member, Lok Sabha, Sri Anandpur Sahib Parliamentary Constituency) appealed to the officers to utilize the funds meant for general category and weaker sections with utmost honesty.
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 9, 2025: During the meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) held here today, Chairman Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi (Member, Lok Sabha, Patiala Parliamentary Constituency) and Co-Chairman Malvinder Singh Kang (Member, Lok Sabha, Sri Anandpur Sahib Parliamentary Constituency) appealed to the officers to utilize the funds meant for general category and weaker sections with utmost honesty.
Chairing the meeting held here today to review the MPLAD and Central Schemes in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district, Dr. Gandhi and Mr. Kang emphasized that our approach should be positive and humane to ensure maximum reach of government welfare schemes to the needy and deserving people.
He said that for the welfare of the general and weaker sections, many schemes are being implemented at the state and central level like MNREGA, Ayushman Health Insurance, Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Upgradation Scheme, free wheat, pregnant mothers, newborn children through Anganwadi centers, adolescent girls, nutritious food schemes for children between 0 and 6 years, vaccination and other facilities related to the health department, mid-day meals, upgradation of school infrastructure etc., in some of which the state governments also have financial stake.
He said that the purpose of this meeting is not just to review the progress of figures but also to review the welfare of these needy people at the ground level, for which we all need to do 'team work'. Dr. Dharamvir, while emphasizing on the awareness campaign against the cancer disease spreading in Punjab, said that we should educate people for its prevention by highlighting 9 important points in this regard in educational institutions, health institutions and public places.
He said that today there are many examples in our society of winning the battle of life by fighting cancer. He also stressed on creating small marriage palaces based on community centres to provide space for marriages and other ceremonies at affordable rates by forming groups of villages, for which he also expressed his desire to provide grants from the MP Land Fund. MP Malvinder Singh Kang, referring to the Khijrabad to Chatauli road, stressed on identifying more such roads in the district and bringing them under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sahakari Yojana or other central road schemes to get maximum benefit of central funds.
When he asked about the problem of drinking water in village Masaul, Executive Engineer of Water Supply and Sanitation Department Ramandeep Singh said that a water supply scheme has been prepared for the people of the village and water supply will start in a day or two. During the meeting, it was also told that under the Amrit Yojana, water purification plants are being prepared in Kharar and Kurali, in which the Central and Punjab governments will give half-half financial contribution. This will pave the way for providing canal water to these two cities. While presenting the vote of thanks, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain assured both the MPs that every single rupee of Central grant and MP Local Area Development grant would be distributed to the eligible and needy people in the district.
In the meeting, the plan of District Planning Committee Chairperson Prabhjot Kaur to build a small marriage palace by grouping a few villages was highly appreciated by both the MPs and they assured to give their full contribution.
