
Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to save/conserve groundwater
Nawanshahr - Punjab Water Regulation and Development Authority (PWRDA) has issued Punjab Ground Water Extraction and Conservation Direction, 2023 which is effective from 01.02.2023. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa while chairing the District Implementing Committee for Water Regulation and Development (DICWRD) at District Administrative Complex Nawanshahr.
Nawanshahr - Punjab Water Regulation and Development Authority (PWRDA) has issued Punjab Ground Water Extraction and Conservation Direction, 2023 which is effective from 01.02.2023. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa while chairing the District Implementing Committee for Water Regulation and Development (DICWRD) at District Administrative Complex Nawanshahr.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that under the said directives of the Government, without the permission of the Authority, no power- for exploration of ground water, or for establishing, modifying, extending or improving any ground water extraction structure in the State- A powered drilling rig will not be operated. He informed that the last date for applying to the authority for permission to operate power operated drilling rig was 31.12.2023 which has been extended to 30.06.2024. He asked the officials concerned to ensure through the DICWRD that no power-operated drilling rigs are operated in the district without the permission of PDLBURDA, especially after June 30, 2024.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned officials to ensure the compliance of the instructions received to save the ground water and to make people aware by conducting more awareness camps in the district. He directed the concerned officer to inspect the ground water extraction units in the district and submit his report after surveying the district within two weeks. He also asked the officials of the Punjab Pollution Control Board to inspect various units of the district and take action to prevent pollution. Additional Deputy Commissioner (c) Rajeev Verma, SDM Nawanshahr, SDM Nawanshahr Akshita Gupta, SDM Banga Vikramjit Singh Panthe, SDM Balachore Ravinder Bansal and officials of other departments were present in this meeting.
Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa presided over the Rogi Kalyan Samiti meeting organized by the Health Department. And information regarding hospital equipment, patients, etc. was obtained from the health department. Civil Surgeon Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, Good Governance Fellow Ashmita Parmar etc. were present in this meeting.
