National Voter's Day celebrated in Government School Mazara Kalan/Khurd.

Nawanshahr, January 25: National Voter's Day was celebrated in Government Smart High School Mazara Kalan/Khurd under the leadership of Head Teacher Neelam Kumari. Addressing the students, Head Teacher Neelam Kumari said that this day is dedicated to the establishment of Election Commission of India, as Election Commission of India was established on 25 January 1950.

ELC Club Incharge Ajay Kumar Chahar Mazara said that the celebration of National Voter's Day in India started on 25 January 2011. The purpose of celebrating this day every year is to motivate every Indian citizen to register his name in the voter list as a voter on attaining the age of 18 years and participate in the electoral process. He said that we should use our vote without any fear, intimidation and greed and strengthen the democratic system by selecting intelligent and honest candidates for the progress of the country.
Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, had said that 'selling vote is equal to selling a daughter.' He said that voting for money, liquor or any other greed harms the entire democratic system. Principal Neelam Kumari administered the oath to all the staff and students to cast their vote without any fear or greed.
Rajeev Sharma, Chandan Sharma, Daljinder Kaur, Neeru Bala, Rajwinder Kaur, Ajaydeep Singh, Prince Preeti, Rajwinder Kaur, Kailash and Pradeep Kumar etc. were also present on this occasion.
