SAS Nagar, December 17: Mohali Municipal Corporation and Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi has written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann demanding the creation of a large ground and infrastructure on the lines of Delhi's Pragati Maidan for organizing cultural, religious and commercial events in Mohali.
In his letter, Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi said that the Chief Minister himself is an artist and knows very well that no such ground has been left in Mohali where such events can be organized. He said that the lobby of the officers of Chandigarh is anti-Punjab and Punjabi, an example of which is found in the programs held recently. He said that this is the reason why international level Punjabi singer like Diljit Dosanjh has refused to organize programs in Chandigarh from today. And leading Punjabi singer Satinder Sartaj has also refused to organize programs in Chandigarh.
Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi said that with the expansion of Mohali, it has become a very important part not only of the tricity but also of Punjab. But there is no place here to hold such events. He said that there is additional space in Mohali to hold such big events and along with building a good ground, a multi-level parking can also be constructed here. He said that the Punjab government can also get additional revenue from such a ground. He said that it can also be built as a stadium. He said that recently a Saras Mela was organized in Mohali, in which a large number of people flocked, but this Mela also had to be held on an empty place due to lack of a suitable place for this.
Therefore, a suitable place and parking are very important for holding big programs in Mohali. He said that the government should pay serious attention to this aspect and prepare a good cultural arena in Mohali, which can benefit people from all sections of society. A copy of the letter has also been sent to Cultural Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saund and the main project GMADA.
