Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, December 12, 2024: District Magistrate Mrs. Ashika Jain has issued an order in exercise of the powers vested in her under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Act, 2023. That any person residing within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Councils, Nagar Panchayats and Village Panchayats located within the limits of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district,
when he keeps a tenant/servant/paying guest in his house; he shall ensure to give his complete details to the nearest police station within a week. This order shall also apply to those who have not yet given the details of the tenants, servants and paying guests they have already kept to the police.
These prohibitory orders state that many people from other states and outside districts come to the district to do jobs/work etc. Apart from this, students/learners from other states for studies in other educational institutions/organizations, persons belonging to various professions/businesses as paying guests and employees serving in call centers are also staying on rent.
Many of these persons are from drug, anti-social and criminal backgrounds and create a ruckus in rented premises and public places. The information of these tenants is not registered with the police by the landlords, due to which there is a fear of disruption of law and order situation. These orders will be in force from December 11, 2024 to February 10, 2025.
