
Additional District Magistrate issues ban on cattle semen
Patiala, December 10: Additional District Magistrate Patiala Isha Singal, exercising the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code 2023, has banned unauthorized storage/transportation, use or sale of cattle semen in Patiala district.

The orders state that due to sale of fake semen at various places, there is a possibility of deterioration of the improved breed of cattle of the state and in case of such occurrence, all the efforts made by the department for improving the breed of cattle for a long time will be in vain. Incidents of sale of fake and unauthorized semen are coming to light at various places in the state of Punjab.
According to this prohibition order, it is not appropriate as per the breeding policy of the state to use semen that is being sold/purchased without authorization, because doing so may adversely affect the productivity of the state's livestock and its impact may not be immediately known but its impact will be visible in the coming time and in case of this, all the efforts made by the department for the improvement of the breed of animals for a long time will be useless.
Thus, selling of unauthorized semen is a very serious issue. These orders will remain in force till 5th February 2025.
