SAS Nagar, 05 December, 2024: This year Armed Forces Flag Day was celebrated on 05 December, 2024. On this day all the countrymen and especially the people of Punjab remember the sacrifices made by our forces to protect the country. And on this day they donate wholeheartedly to help the families of martyred soldiers and injured ex-servicemen during various battles/operations. The money collected on this day is used for the welfare of the families of the martyrs.
The Armed Forces Flag Civil Fund Collection was first started by placing a symbolic flag on Shri Viraj Shyamkaran Tidke, IAS Additional Deputy Commissioner, SAS Nagar, Ms Sonam Chaudhary, PCS Additional Deputy Commissioner, SAS Nagar and they generously donated to the Flag Day Fund.
On this occasion, symbolic flags were distributed to the general public by Group Captain (Retd.) Davinder Singh Dhillon, District Defense Services Welfare Officer SAS Nagar and Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Superintendent District Defense Services Welfare Office and Group Staff, and employees of Sainik Institute of Management and Technology and people also donated generously.
On this occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner appealed to all the district residents to donate as much as possible for this noble cause and said that this fund is used for good works like welfare of families of martyrs, physically disabled soldiers. He appealed to the general public as well as especially industrial establishments and government officials to donate as much as possible for the Flag Day Fund.
