
Awareness camp organized in Garhshankar regarding use of treated water for irrigation
Garhshankar: The Soil and Water Conservation Department organized an awareness camp and inauguration ceremony in Garhshankar with the aim of using the treated water of STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) for irrigation in the fields of farmers. This project was inaugurated by the Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

This project was inaugurated by the Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
The Deputy Speaker, while praising the officers of the department, said that there is a need to increase more such projects in the Garhshankar Vidhan Sabha constituency. He assured that priority will be given to soil and water conservation works. And if more funds are required for such schemes, he will try to make it available to the government.
Divisional Soil Conservation Officer Harpreet Singh Bath said that under this project, an HDPE (250 mm) pipeline of about 7 km length will be laid. On completion of this project, about 125 hectares of land of village Dagam and Fatehpur Kala will be irrigated and 40 to 50 farmer families will get direct benefit.
On this occasion, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Garhshankar Harbans Singh, Sub-Divisional Soil Conservation Officer Baljinder Singh, Municipal Council President Rajinder Singh, Agriculture Officer and SDO of PCPCL along with other officials were also present.
