
No child between 0 and 5 years of age in the district should be deprived of taking anti-polio drops - Rajiv Verma
Nawanshahr: During the sub-national pulse polio campaign in the district from December 8 to 10, 2024, a target has been set to administer polio drops to 56421 children aged 0 to 5 years. For this, 226 booths have been set up, along with 16 transit teams and 7 mobile teams have been formed. During this campaign, polio drops will be administered at the booths on the first day. While 451 teams will be deployed to administer polio drops to the children who were deprived of taking polio drops on the first day, on December 9 and 10, 2024.

Therefore, cooperation should be provided from all sides in coordination with the District Health Department, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar so that no child aged 0 to 5 years in the district is deprived of taking polio drops. He directed that during this campaign, all the partner departments should not indulge in any negligence in their duties. He said that awareness activities should also be conducted to make people aware of the sub-national pulse polio campaign so that the target of the district can be achieved successfully. Along with this, he stressed on the need to be fully vigilant against polio disease.
On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jaspreet Kaur said that a total of 46 monitors have been deployed to monitor this campaign. During this three-day campaign, 138129 houses, 18 grain markets, 14 factories, 55 brick kilns and 81 high-risk areas will be covered. He said that mobile teams will administer polio drops to children living in semi-urban areas, slums, and around small and big factories and transit teams will administer drops to children at bus stands and railway stations.
The Civil Surgeon appealed to all the supporting departments to extend full support to the District Health Department to administer polio drops to all children aged 0 to 5 years from December 8 to December 10, 2024 to make the Sub-National Pulse Polio Campaign a success. So that this disease can be prevented from raising its head again.
