Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Police arrested 7 drug peddlers under 'War against Drugs'

1 March Nawanshahr- As per the directions of Director General of Police Punjab, District Police today launched a drive to eradicate drug abuse in various villages/towns of the district under the supervision of ADGP Traffic Punjab A.S. Rai. Giving this information, Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Mehtab Singh said that in this drive, separate police parties of 169 police personnel including 2 SPs, 5 DSPs were formed and the houses of suspicious persons were cordoned off and searched in the drug affected villages/wards of the district and especially the persons involved in the drug peddling business were investigated.

Giving this information, Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Mehtab Singh said that in this drive, separate police parties of 169 police personnel including 2 SPs, 5 DSPs were formed and the houses of suspicious persons were cordoned off and searched in the drug affected villages/wards of the district and especially the persons involved in the drug peddling business were investigated.
He said that during this period, seven cases were registered and seven persons were arrested and 46 grams of heroin and 80 intoxicating pills were recovered. He said that the main objective of this campaign is to control drug trafficking in the district, maintain pressure on drug smugglers, keep an eye on their current activities, break the supply chain of drugs, identify drug addicts and rehabilitate them and create confidence in the general public towards the police.
He said that under the war against drugs, the district police is ready to eliminate drug abuse. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in this campaign.
