Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, November 7, 2024: From Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann; Keeping the interests of the sugarcane cultivators at the fore, in view of the announcement made by sugar mills to start the crushing season of the year 2024-25 from November 25, 2024; Managing Director Sugarfed, Dr Senu Duggal, IAS today held a virtual meeting with the General Managers of all Cooperative Sugar Mills of the State.
 During the meeting, Dr. Duggal reviewed the preparations for the upcoming crushing season 2024-25. And instructions were given to the General Managers to ensure that the mills are fully prepared in time for the next crushing season. And their 'repair and maintenance' should be done in a satisfactory manner. He said that in the coming crushing season, it is mandatory to have the mill machinery in working order for the sugarcane crushing and sugar production to run smoothly so that the farmers do not have to face any kind of trouble. Along with this, sugarcane growers were also asked to ensure timely payment of sugarcane.
 MD Sugarfed emphasized that the production of sugar should be done in a very neat and clean manner, so that the best quality sugar can be produced by the mills. The Managing Director, Sugarfed, Punjab also instructed the mill officials to provide necessary facilities in Kisan Vishram houses for the farmers bringing sugarcane to the mill, to run good canteens for provision of tea, water and food; And the waiting time in the cane yard should be kept to a minimum.
 He also gave directions that the slip should be issued strictly according to the mill calendar for the supply of sugarcane so that all the targets of the mill can be achieved. Along with this, the Managing Director, Sugarfed appealed to all the sugarcane growers to supply the sugarcane to the cooperative sugar mills in accordance with the type of sugarcane given on the slip, packed with clean, non-flammable straw; So that the farmers do not have to face any difficulty.
 Managing Director, Sugarfed also informed that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann, Sugarfed will procure whole sugarcane under its mills, pay sugarcane growers on time, promote crop diversification through sugarcane cultivation. and is committed to improving farmer income.
