
SAS Nagar police arrest four robbers involved in Dhakoli liquor shop robbery
SAS Nagar:- SAS Nagar Shri Deepak PareekhIPS, SSP SAS Nagar informed the press about the successful arrest of four unidentified motorcycle riders who committed robbery at a liquor shop at Mamta Enclave, Dhakoli on the night of 01-11-2024. These persons used illegal weapons and knives during the robbery and were traced and arrested by SAS Nagar Police.

These persons used illegal weapons and knives during the robbery and were traced and arrested by SAS Nagar Police.
SSP Shri Deepak Pareekh IPS further informed that under the directions of Shri Gaurav Yadav IPS, DGP Punjab and Smt. Neelambari Vijay Jagdale IPS, DIG Ropar Range, a team of CIA staff and Dhakoli Police Station was assigned the task to trace the suspects involved in this robbery. A team led by Mr. Manpreet Singh
PPS (SP, Rural), Mr. Talwinder Singh PPS (SP, Investigation), and Mr. Jaspinder Singh, PPS (SP Zirakpur), Inspector Harminder Singh (CIA Incharge) and Inspector Deepinder Singh (SHO Dhakoli) using technical and human intelligence successfully arrested four suspects along with weapons used in the robbery.
Background of the Case
On 02-11-2024 based on the statement of Manoj Kumar, R/o Navan Pind Tappian, PS Balachaur, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, a case (FIR No. 89 dated 02-11-2024 under Sections 309(4), 309(6), 311, 109(1), 332(B), 115(2), 3(5) BNS, and Arms Act 25/27-54-59) was registered at PS Dhakoli. Manoj Kumar, an employee of a liquor shop in Mamta Enclave, Dhakoli, reported that on 01-11-2024 at around 11:00 pm, three masked men entered the shop while the fourth man was waiting outside on a motorcycle. Two suspects approached Manoj at the counter- one grabbed him from behind and pointed a pistol at his back and demanded all the valuables. The second suspect forcibly took out ?10,000 from the cash drawer. During the robbery, one of the suspects fired a shot, which hit the basement wall. Hearing the gunshot, the establishment's owner Deepak Sandhu came out to intervene. The robbers then fired again, which hit Deepak Sandhu in the chest and then fled from the spot with the weapon. Deepak Sandhu is currently undergoing treatment at PGI Chandigarh.
Details of arrested accused
1. Nishant Rana (20 yrs, r/o Devi Nagar, Panchkula, Haryana) – 12th class pass, unmarried, previously involved in fraud case registered at PS Chandimandir, Haryana. Arrested from Sector-1, Panchkula.
2. Manveer (22 yrs, r/o Old Panchkula, Haryana) – 8th class pass, unmarried, previously involved in Excise Act case at PS Sector-07, Panchkula. Arrested from Sector-1, Panchkula.
3. Vishal Kumar alias Karandi (19 yrs, r/o Kharak Mangoli, Panchkula, Haryana) – 6th class pass, unmarried, previously involved in quarrel case registered at PS Mansa Devi, Panchkula. Arrested from Kharak Mangoli, Panchkula.
4. Pankaj alias Nikhil (19 years, resident of Kharak Mangoli, Panchkula, Haryana) - 10th class pass, unmarried, no criminal history. Arrested from Kharak Mangoli, Panchkula.
Items recovered
1. Two pistols (.315 bore) with one live cartridge and two empty cartridges.
2. Two knives.
3. Motorcycle used in the crime.
Investigation and interrogation
During interrogation, the accused confessed to have purchased illegal weapons from Uttar Pradesh with the intention of committing robbery. They are being produced in court today for police remand. Further investigation may reveal their involvement in other robbery cases.
