Hoshiarpur - SDM Hoshiarpur Sanjeev Sharma held an important meeting with various youth clubs and departmental officials on Tuesday while making special efforts to eradicate drugs in sub-division Hoshiarpur. In this meeting, emphasis was placed on encouraging the participation of women to further strengthen the campaign against drugs.
The SDM said that the role of women can be very important in the eradication of drug addiction. Anganwadi workers, panchayats and school heads at the village level need to be particularly active in this direction so that awareness against drugs can be increased. He said that women can take effective measures against drugs by spreading awareness in their family and society.
The SDM directed the District Education Officer and counselors of de-addiction centers to conduct seminars in schools and colleges. He said that through these seminars, it is important to make the young generation aware of the dangers of drugs and its side effects. He said that awareness programs should be conducted continuously in educational institutions to keep the youth away from drugs.
Sanjeev Sharma said that the cooperation of all sections of the society is necessary in the drug eradication campaign. He instructed all departmental officials to work diligently to strengthen this campaign in their respective areas.
During the meeting, representatives of various youth clubs, other organizations and officials shared their experiences regarding the campaign against drugs. He said that the efforts made at the community level have yielded positive results and better success can be achieved only with the joint responsibility of all in this direction.
DSP Sukhninder Singh, Deputy District Education Officer (A) Sukhwinder Singh, National Awardee Pramod Sharma, Ashok Puri, Ayush Sharma and other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.
