
Priority should be given to writing signboards in Punjabi language: District Language Officer
Hoshiarpur - District Language Officer Dr Jaswant Rai said that under the campaign of the Language Department to write all the signboards in the state in Punjabi language (Gurmukhi script), contact the District Language Office for any kind of inquiry or information regarding Punjabi word combinations while writing the information boards.

Dr Jaswant Rai said that as per the directions of Director of Language Department Jaswant Singh Jafar, while writing the names of all government, semi-government offices, departments, institutions, organizations, educational institutions, boards, corporations and non-government organizations, public and private shops and commercial establishments etc. and road names, milestones, nameplates, signboards, Punjabi language should be used first at the top. He said that it can be written in any other language after Punjabi language.
He appealed to the concerned institutions to give priority to writing the nameplates in Punjabi language and cooperate to promote the Punjabi language further. The District Language Officer said that if any institution faces any problem regarding Punjabi spelling, they can contact the District Language Office located on the third floor of the District Administrative Complex.
