
Kolkata rape case: Junior doctors continue protest near Kolkata police headquarters
Kolkata, Sep 3 – Students of various medical colleges who had rallied in Kolkata sat on a dharna near the police headquarters after the march was called off on Tuesday, demanding the resignation of Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal. After the doctors, common people and students of other educational institutions were prevented from marching further, they spent the whole night at Bibi Ganguly Gali, about half a kilometer from Lalbazar.

After the doctors, common people and students of other educational institutions were prevented from marching further, they spent the whole night at Bibi Ganguly Gali, about half a kilometer from Lalbazar.
Meanwhile, a large contingent of Kolkata Police officers remained on guard on the other side of the barricade. On this, the junior doctors said that we did not know that the Kolkata police were so scared that they would put up a 9 feet high barricade to stop us. He said that our agitation will continue till we are allowed to reach Lalbazar and meet the CP. It may be mentioned that the doctors started marching towards Lalbazar around 2 pm on Monday. On this occasion, they also raised slogans demanding exemplary punishment to the accused of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
