The sacrifice of Punjab police officers and employees in restoring peace is unparalleled: SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh

Nawanshahr, October 21 - On the occasion of Police Martyrdom Day today at ITI Ground Nawanshahr, flowers were presented to the police martyrs. District and Sessions Judge Priya Sood also specially participated in this event conducted under the leadership of SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh. Meanwhile, SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh said that the sacrifice made by the officers and jawans of the Punjab Police for the restoration of peace in the state is unprecedented and cannot be forgotten.

Nawanshahr, October 21 - On the occasion of Police Martyrdom Day today at ITI Ground Nawanshahr, flowers were presented to the police martyrs. District and Sessions Judge Priya Sood also specially participated in this event conducted under the leadership of SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh. Meanwhile, SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh said that the sacrifice made by the officers and jawans of the Punjab Police for the restoration of peace in the state is unprecedented and cannot be forgotten.
He said that they not only laid down their lives to maintain peace and harmony in the state, but also safeguarded the unity and integrity of the country. He said that this series of unprecedented sacrifices made by the police and paramilitary forces every year in the line of duty is continuing. He said that 27 policemen and officers of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district sacrificed their lives fighting against terrorism and contributed to the restoration of peace, harmony and law and order in the state.
 He said that the Police Martyrdom Day is celebrated to remember the martyrs as well as to reassure their dependents. That the police department and the community as a whole will always be indebted to the sacrifices of the police and stand with the families. He listened sympathetically to the problems of the dependents of the police martyrs and directed them to solve them on the spot. Explaining the historical significance of the Police Martyrdom Day Parade, the SSP said that on October 21, 1959, CRPF jawans were martyred in an ambush by Chinese forces at Hot Springs (Ladakh).
 After that, this day is celebrated throughout the country to pay tribute to the paramilitary forces and police forces who lost their lives in the line of duty. Meanwhile, the list of martyred officers and jawans of the police and semi-security forces was read out and the police contingent paid tribute to the martyrs. On this occasion, District and Sessions Judge Priya Sood, SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate Parvinder Kaur, SDM Balachore Preet Inder Singh Bains and prominent personalities and dignitaries paid tribute to the martyrs by observing a two minute silence.
Similarly, apart from family members of retired police officers, jawans and martyrs, the district civil and police officers paid tribute to the martyrs by offering garlands and petals in front of the pictures of the martyrs.
On this occasion, the family members of the martyrs were honored and solidarity was also expressed with them.
SP (local) Sohan Lal, DSP Daljit Singh Khakh, DSP Surinder Chand, DSP Shehbaj Singh, DSP Raj Kumar, DSP Harjit Singh, besides all chief police officers and police personnel of the district were present in large numbers among the police officers present on this occasion.
