Mohali Administration Puts All out Efforts to curb farm fire incidents

SAS Nagar, October 20, 2024: To curb farm fire incidents in the Mohali district, Administrative officers have been putting all-out efforts by putting senior functionaries on the ground. Starting from DC, ADCs, SDMs, DR Cooperative, and PPCB officials have been visiting the field area to check the presence of Nodal Officers as well as field officers deputed in villages besides making the farmers aware of the side effects of burning stubble.

Starting from DC, ADCs, SDMs, DR Cooperative, and PPCB officials have been visiting the field area to check the presence of Nodal Officers as well as field officers deputed in villages besides making the farmers aware of the side effects of burning stubble.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain said that the teams have been asked to act promptly in case of occurring of fire incidents with the help of fire tenders or other measures. Police have also been kept on alert to visit the field in no time, in case of resistance by the farmer.
She said that Additional Deputy Commissioners (General and Development), and Sub Divisional Magistrates have been supervising the working of Nodal and Cluster officers daily by checking their presence in the field. SDMs have been visiting their villages daily to sensitize the farmers to the ill effects of stubble burning.
She further said that checking is going on to list out the fire incidents, if it is related to Commission Agent, Namberdar, Panchayat Member, Lease Holders of Panchayat Land or Shamlat Land of villages, Employees of Government Departments, Boards, Corporations and autonomous bodies. If any of the above categories of the person had burnt paddy straw, immediate action should be taken against him.
The Deputy Commissioner said that this time we have been reported 26 cases by the Punjab Remote Sensing Centre, out of which 07 were confirmed upon physical visit to the fields. An environment imposition of Rs 20,000 has been recovered from the violators, she added.
She further said that the district administrative has provided the farmers with machinery for mechanical handling of stubble as well as arranged PUSA bio-discomposure to de-compose the crop residue in the soil.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the farmers to support the administration in its efforts to dispose of the stubble without setting it on fire.
