
Lok Sabha Member Malvinder Singh Kang reviews MPLADS and Central Schemes.
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, July 9, 2025: Today, a meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee was held at District Administrative Complex, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) by Co-Chairman Malvinder Singh Kang (Lok Sabha Member, Shri Anandpur Sahib Parliamentary Constituency) with the officers of various departments regarding the development works of the district.
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, July 9, 2025: Today, a meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee was held at District Administrative Complex, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) by Co-Chairman Malvinder Singh Kang (Lok Sabha Member, Shri Anandpur Sahib Parliamentary Constituency) with the officers of various departments regarding the development works of the district.
Lok Sabha Member Malvinder Singh Kang appealed to the officers to honestly utilize the funds under the schemes being run by the government for general category and weaker sections and to make the needy people aware of the welfare schemes being run by the government.
Chairing the meeting held today to review the MPLADS and Central Schemes in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district, Mr Malvinder Singh Kang said that many needy people do not get information about the schemes being run by the government for their welfare.
He said that our approach should be positive and humane to ensure maximum reach of government welfare schemes to the needy and eligible people. He said that awareness camps should be organized about the schemes being run at the state and central level for the welfare of the general and weaker sections.
Many schemes are being run like MNREGA, Ayushman Health Insurance, Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Prapti Yojana, free wheat, Anganwadi centers for pregnant women, mothers of newborns, adolescent girls, children aged 0 to 6 years, vaccination and other facilities related to the health department, mid-day meal, upgradation of school infrastructure, etc., in some of which the state governments also have financial stake.
He said that these welfare schemes of the government will be considered successful only when the benefits of these schemes reach the needy people. He emphasized on especially checking the quality of mid-day meal given to children in schools.
Addressing various officials present in the meeting, he said that the purpose of the meeting is not only to review the progress of the figures but also to review the welfare of these needy people at the ground level, for which we all need to do 'team work'.
During the meeting, MLA Derabassi Kuljit Singh Randhawa spoke about the problem of drinking water in Derabassi. He said that the ground water of Derabassi is no longer potable. The water level has gone down a lot and the water is also poisonous. The reason for this is the pesticides sprayed on the crops and industry of Derabassi. He also said that the water of Derabassi assembly constituency is not suitable for crops, the crops are also drying up.
Expressing concern for the future, he appealed to find a proper solution for drinking water and called upon every person to plant a tree. MP Malvinder Singh Kang also stressed on forming clusters of villages and building small community centre-based marriage palaces so that they can be provided space for marriages and other functions at affordable rates, for which he also expressed his willingness to provide grants from MP fund.
MP Malvinder Singh Kang asked to take maximum advantage of central funds by identifying broken or unconstructable roads in the district and bringing them under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana or other central road schemes. He asked to complete the work of gardens, gymnasiums, playgrounds, libraries, street lights etc. in the district as soon as possible. He also reviewed the status of solid waste disposal in the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Komal Mittal, while presenting the vote of thanks, assured Lok Sabha Member Malvinder Singh Kang that the benefits of central grants and MP Local Area Development grants in the district would be fully delivered to the eligible and needy people. In the meeting, District Planning Committee Chairperson Prabhjot Kaur presented suggestions to find a proper solution to the problem of cleanliness, illegal hawkers/encroachments in the city.

DM, Derabassi Amit Gupta, Dr. Harmandeep Kaur Brar, District Lead Bank Manager MK Bhardwaj, DEO Dr. Ginni Duggal, District Programme Officer Nikhil Arora, District Social Security Officer Amrit Bala and officers from other departments.
