
Punjab Engineering College Holds Industry-Academia Interaction Week to Promote Collaboration and Innovation

The event aims to strengthen ties between academia and industry, fostering innovation and collaboration for holistic development. The Centre of Management and Humanities (CMH) being part of this initiative, organizing various insightful lectures by industry experts.

The event aims to strengthen ties between academia and industry, fostering innovation and collaboration for holistic development. The Centre of Management and Humanities (CMH) being part of this initiative, organizing various insightful lectures by industry experts.
On September 26, 2024, CMH hosted an engaging session titled "Breaking the Barriers of Communication and Embracing the World Unflinchingly" by Ms. Divya Khanna, Founder and Transformational Coach at Genesis Educates, Chandigarh. The session commenced with a warm welcome by Prof. Anju Singla, Head of CMH, who presented a floral bouquet to the guest speaker. Ms. Khanna shared practical tips on enhancing communication skills, including posture, personality development, and the effective use of fillers to ensure fluent conversation. With over 12 years of experience, she has successfully trained more than 900 students. Ms. Khanna emphasized the importance of confidence building and language proficiency in professional growth, leaving the audience inspired with her real-life anecdotes and valuable insights.
Earlier in the week, on the third day of the event, Dr. Parikshit Bansal delivered an enlightening lecture on “Career Opportunities in Intellectual Property Rights.” Dr. Bansal, a renowned expert in the field, was introduced by Prof. Anju Singla with a gesture of floral appreciation. Dr. Bansal discussed the significance of intellectual property in today’s innovation-driven world, explaining its various types—patents, trademarks, copyrights, and designs. He introduced the “Trishul Test” that determines the validity of an idea as intellectual property based on its novelty, inventiveness, and applicability. He further highlighted career prospects in intellectual property, especially as a patent analyst, encouraging students to develop robust communication skills and leverage tools like Google Patent to enhance their knowledge.
As part of the ongoing series of lectures, CMH also welcomed Mr. Manish Sharma, an accomplished entrepreneur, corporate trainer, and management consultant with over 27 years of industry experience on 24th September, 2024. Mr. Sharma spoke on “Strategic Decision Making,” where he shared strategies for making effective career and business decisions. Using real-life anecdotes, he emphasized the importance of aligning personal beliefs with professional aspirations. Mr. Sharma introduced frameworks for competitive decision-making and discussed their role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. He left the audience with a powerful message: “The beliefs that you carry determine your future,” urging students to cultivate the right mindset for success. Prof. Anju Singla expressed gratitude to Mr. Sharma and presented a memento as a token of appreciation for his valuable contribution.
The Industry-Academia Interaction Week continues to provide a dynamic platform for students and faculty at Punjab Engineering College to engage with industry leaders and gain practical insights, enhancing the overall learning experience.
