The challans of the violators were deducted under Section 4 and 6 of the Kotpa Act. Shop owners and general public were sensitized about the Act for smoking and sale of tobacco products in public places by shopkeepers who did not display adequate information boards.
Dr. Jagdeep Singh shared the information and said that under Kotpa Act 2003, no tobacco product can be sold within 50 meters of schools, colleges, no tobacco product can be displayed in front, loose and imported cigarettes cannot be sold. can No tobacconist can give matches or lighters to customers to light cigarettes, no tobacconist can be sold at any food shop and as per government instructions, the shop must have a warning board. On this occasion, the health department team also informed them about the negative effects of tobacco on health.
Harmful elements in tobacco cause lung cancer, tongue cancer, asthma, tuberculosis etc. He said that it is necessary to write about tobacco products and 85 percent use of tobacco is injurious to health. According to the Kotpa Act, it is a legal offense to sell tobacco products to children below the age of 18 years. Therefore, we should not use tobacco products while keeping our health as a priority, if we ourselves become healthy, then only we can create a healthy society.
