
Secretary Health Sh. Ajay Chagti Flags Off 'RED RUN' to Combat HIV/AIDS
Chandigarh, September 21, 2024 – The Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society (CSACS) successfully organized the ‘RED RUN’, a 5 km awareness run aimed at combating HIV/AIDS, at Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh, today. Around 250 students from 25 colleges across Chandigarh took part in the run, which was designed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and promote healthy lifestyles among the youth.

Around 250 students from 25 colleges across Chandigarh took part in the run, which was designed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and promote healthy lifestyles among the youth. The event was flagged off by Sh. Ajay Chagti, IAS, Secretary Health, Chandigarh Administration, alongside Dr. Suman, Director Health Services, Chandigarh Administration. Secretary Health, Sh. Chagti, commended CSACS for its efforts in encouraging students to participate in this important initiative.
He urged the youth to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy way of living, while also promoting the 24x7 national toll-free helpline number 1097 for any inquiries and information regarding HIV/AIDS. Dr. Suman echoed these sentiments, highlighting the significance of a nutritious, balanced diet and regular physical exercise, while emphasizing the importance of avoiding drugs and substance abuse as part of a healthy lifestyle. Secretary Health, Sh. Chagti, distributed prizes to the winners.
In the male category, Manpreet from SD College-32 secured the 1st position with a prize of Rs. 15,000, followed by Surjeet, also from SD College-32, who won the 2nd position and Rs. 10,000. Ritesh Kumar from GC-50 took the 3rd position and a prize of Rs. 5,000. In the female category, Sadhana from DAV-10 claimed 1st place with a prize of Rs. 15,000, while Shreya and Preeti, both from SD College-32, won the 2nd and 3rd positions, receiving Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively.
The Project Director extended gratitude to the Programme Officers of the Health Department, Police, Tourism, CITCO, Education, and media personnel for their support in making this event a success.
