New Delhi, September 16 - Discussions and meetings continued in the party on Monday to choose the successor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after his sudden resignation from the post of Chief Minister. A meeting of the AAP's Political Affairs Committee is also scheduled for Monday evening.
This morning, senior party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia reached Kejriwal's official residence here and both the leaders discussed the possible names for the post of Chief Minister. The names of Delhi ministers Atishi, Gopal Rai, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Kailash Gehlot and some MLAs from the reserved category and Delhi Assembly Speaker Rakhi Birla and Kejriwal's wife Sunita etc. are being considered as the possible candidates to become Kejriwal's successor.
Kejriwal, who was recently released from jail after getting bail in the Delhi Excise Policy case, had addressed party workers at the party headquarters on Sunday and announced that he would not take over the post of Chief Minister until he gets a 'mandate of honesty' from the people. He said that he and Sisodia can become Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister only when 'people say that we are honest.'
