The 33rd Annual Day Celebration of Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh was held on 09th September, 2024 at College Auditorium, GMCH, Sector-32, Chandigarh. Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab & Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Sh. Rajeev Verma IAS, Advisor to Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the Guest of honour. Sh. Ajay Chagti, Secretary Medical Education and Research was also present on the occasion.

The 33rd Annual Day Celebration of Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh was held on 09th September, 2024 at College Auditorium, GMCH, Sector-32, Chandigarh. Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab & Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Sh. Rajeev Verma IAS, Advisor to Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the Guest of honour. Sh. Ajay Chagti, Secretary Medical Education and Research was also present on the occasion. The welcome inaugural address was given by Prof. A.K Attri, Director Principal, Govt. Medical College & Hospital and he also deliberated about the achievements of GMCH in detail under the Annual Report of Govt. Medical College & Hospital. The chief guest, Sh. Kataria released the College Magazine Glimpse for the year 2024. He also distributed prizes to the medical students who have excelled in Academics, different Sports meets and other fests. Dr Vaibhav Garg who passed MBBS (2018) from GMCH toped PGNEET 2024 in India was honoured by the choef guest. Several Faculty members specially Dr Varsha Gupta, Dr Lipika Gautam, Dr Monika Gupta, Dr Kiran Parkash and Dr Sonia Puri who have done excellent research in last one year were also awarded. Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria spoke highly about GMCH, praised all faculties, all Ex faculties and students for their contribution in the progress of Medical education in Chandigarh as well as the country. He said that in the last few years, there has been a significant increase in the number of medical seats across the country. He specially highlighted Ayushman scheme being the largest Medical cover scheme in the world. The scheme is not just limited to treatment but also encourages comprehensive health reforms. He also emphasized on the Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana, which aims to strengthen the country's health infrastructure, making us better prepared to face new and emerging diseases. He further said, "The 'Heal by India' initiative has been designed with the intention of increasing the mobility of health workforce from India to different parts of the world to serve the world according to the Indian philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. He also asked for more research. He challenged younger doctors to come forward and take cudgels so that we can achieve the goal of VIKSHIT BHARAT by 2047 not in power, weapons but in the field of knowledge so that India would be VISHAV GURU again. He promised all help in the development and progress of GMCH. The annual function event witnessed some mesmerising cultural performances by the students.
