Inauguration of Biometric-Based Aadhar Authentication and Document Verification Facility at GST Suvidha Kendra, Sector 17, Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 30th August 2024: The Chief Commissioner, Sh. Jagreeti Sen Negi, CGST, Chandigarh Zone, today inaugurated the Biometric-Based Aadhar Authentication and Document Verification facility for new GST registrations at the GST Suvidha Kendra located at the CGST office, Sector 17, Chandigarh. This initiative marks a significant advancement in curbing the menace of fake and dummy registrations within the GST system. In an effort to ensure the integrity of the tax structure, the backend system has been designed to undertake data analysis and apply risk parameters to flag potentially risky registrations.

This initiative marks a significant advancement in curbing the menace of fake and dummy registrations within the GST system. In an effort to ensure the integrity of the tax structure, the backend system has been designed to undertake data analysis and apply risk parameters to flag potentially risky registrations. Registrations identified as high-risk will now be required to undergo mandatory Biometric Aadhar authentication at the designated GST Suvidha Kendras, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of the registration process. The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced technologies, including Iris Scanners, Fingerprint Scanners, and Cameras, all installed at the GST Suvidha Kendra. These technologies aim to streamline tax processes and promote greater transparency within the system. By addressing the root causes of tax fraud, this initiative is set to significantly bolster the integrity of the tax structure and encourage compliance across the region. Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Commissioner Sh. Jagreeti Sen Negi praised the efforts behind the creation of this centre and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering accountability and preventing fraudulent practices within the business community.
