
Eye donation fortnight by health department from 25th August
SAS Nagar, August 23:- District Health Department is celebrating eye donation fortnight from August 25 to September 8. Giving information in this regard, Executive Civil Surgeon Dr. Renu Singh said that the main objective of this fortnight is to make people aware about the importance of eye donation. He said that during the fortnight people will be motivated to fill consent forms regarding eye donation. These forms are available in government health institutions and any interested person can go there and fill the form. Registration for eye donation can be done at www.nhm.punjab.gov.in/eye_donation.

The senior health official said that lakhs of people in India are suffering from blindness and most of them can see through donated eyes but sadly the number of eye donors in our country is very less.
Dr. Renu Singh further said that the eyes are very important parts of our body, so they should be examined at least once every six months. He appealed to the residents of the district to come forward and contribute to the eye donation campaign and to inspire their family members, relatives and friends for this noble work. It takes only 10-15 minutes to remove the eyes and there is no mark or scar on the face in this process.
