On the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the people of Una pay tribute to the immortal martyrs

Una, July 26- On the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, a district level program was organized at Shaheed Smarak of MC Una. On this occasion, the chief guest of the program, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal and the special guests present in the program, Veer Chakra decorated (Retd.) Naik Dev Prakash and Shaurya Chakra awarded Honorary Captain Charan Das paid tribute to the martyrs by offering floral wreaths at the Shaheed Smarak.

During this, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar, District Congress President Ranjeet Rana, District Congress OBC Cell President Pramod Kumar, MC Una President Pushpa Devi, SDM Vishwamohan Dev Chauhan, District Sainik Welfare Department Deputy Director Colonel SK Kalia, former Deputy Director of District Sainik Welfare Department Major Raghuveer Singh, Ex Servicemen League President Captain Shakti Chand, besides brave women and ex-servicemen and officers of various departments paid homage to the martyrs by offering floral tributes at the Martyrs Memorial.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that there is no example of bravery like the Kargil war anywhere in the world. In this, our brave soldiers fought against severe cold and adverse conditions and achieved victory. The country will never forget this sacrifice of these brave soldiers. The service of soldiers towards the country is paramount.
He said that Himachali youth have always been ready to serve the country. He appealed to the youth of Una district to move forward with the resolve to contribute to the service of the country. Remember the contribution of the martyrs. Take inspiration from them and focus on your fitness and stay away from drugs.
Deputy Director of District Sainik Welfare Department Colonel SK Kalia welcomed everyone at the ceremony. He said that in the Kargil war, our brave soldiers fought in difficult conditions and drove away the Pakistani soldiers and achieved victory in the Kargil war.
A special help desk will be opened for ex-servicemen in the Deputy Commissioner's office complex
After the program, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal hosted the ex-servicemen for tea in his office. On this occasion, he honored Veer Chakra decorated (Retd.) Naik Dev Prakash and Shaurya Chakra awarded Honorary Captain Charan Das on behalf of the district administration. During this, Captain Shakti Chand, President of Ex Servicemen League, apprised him of the various demands of the ex-servicemen. The Deputy Commissioner listened to all their demands carefully and directed the concerned officers to fulfill them immediately.
The Deputy Commissioner said that a special help desk will be set up in the Deputy Commissioner's office premises for the convenience and assistance of ex-servicemen. He said that a dental chair will be donated to the ECHS Hospital Rampur through the Red Cross. Apart from this, a rain shelter will also be constructed soon on the Rampur road near the ECHS.

The Kargil war lasted from 25 May 1999 to 26 July 1999. Pakistan suffered heavy losses in this war. By 25 July 1999, Indian forces had completely captured its borders and fronts and since the ceasefire was declared on 26 July 1999, every year 26 July is celebrated as Vijay Diwas.
In this war, 52 warriors of Himachal Pradesh, including 2 brave soldiers from Una district, sacrificed their lives. In this war, 4 highest honours, 4 Param Vir Chakras were awarded, out of which 2 Param Vir Chakras were awarded to the martyr Captain Vikram Batra (posthumously) and serving soldier Sanjay Kumar (now Subedar Major) of the state. The country and the people of the state are proud of these brave soldiers.
