SAS Nagar, June 6 - During the last few days, the unannounced power cuts being imposed by the electricity department during the severe summer season and due to technical malfunctions and the fault not being fixed for several hours, there has been an uproar in the city. The working condition of the electricity department is that after the storm last night, the electricity supply was stopped in most parts of the city and people continued to suffer.
Keeping this poor condition of electricity supply in mind, Deputy Mayor of Mohali Municipal Corporation Kuljit Singh Bedi has sought information from the Chief Information Officer of PSPCL Mohali regarding the electricity facilities provided in Mohali under Right to Information.
Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi said that he has requested information from PSPCL under Right to Information 2005 in writing about how many JE posts, how many linemen, how many supervisors are there under electricity department in Mohali city. And what is the electrical load.
He has asked how many more posts of junior engineers, linemen and supervisors have been sanctioned in the new sectors that have been set up. Whether the work is being carried out on the basis of old employees or any new recruits. He has also asked how many of the employees who are currently working in the electricity department are regular and how many are on contract and how many sanctioned posts are currently vacant in the Mohali electricity department. They have also asked under RTI that how much load of electricity has increased in Mohali during summer season and how many transformers have been increased or there is a proposal to increase with this increase in load.
Mr. Bedi said that he has asked for this information because there has been an uproar among people due to non-requirement of electricity supply in Mohali and unannounced power cuts are being imposed. He said that the power load in Mohali has increased while the workers are less and especially at night when the power is less, the people have to face a huge problem.
