SAS Nagar, June 6 - Looking at the results of the Lok Sabha elections held this time, the number of votes received by the BJP in Punjab has increased to 18.56 percent from the 6.6 percent of the 2022 assembly elections. There, the number of votes received by the BJP in Mohali district has reached close to 29 percent.
If we look at the previous data, during the 2022 assembly elections, BJP got 17020 votes in Mohali assembly constituency, 15249 in Kharar and 26903 votes in Derabsi constituency (total 11 percent). Meanwhile, the party's candidate from Mohali, Sanjeev Vashishth (who is currently the party's district president) was in the third place, while the party's candidate from Kharar, Kamaldeep Singh Saini, and the candidate from Derabsi, Sanjeev Khanna, were in the fourth place.
But this time the performance of BJP has changed significantly and BJP got 36005 votes in Mohali, 40391 in Kharar and 65742 (28.83 per cent) in Derabsi. Talking about this time, the Bharatiya Janata Party has stood first in the Derabsi constituency in Mohali district and has secured a lead of about 19 thousand by taking 33.50 percent of the votes there. In Mohali and Kharar, though the BJP is at the third position, its margin over the other candidates has reduced significantly compared to last time. It should also be mentioned here that the number of Hindu voters in Kharar and Derabsi is more than 60 percent, while the number of Hindu voters in Mohali constituency is around 50 percent, but despite this, BJP's performance in Mohali constituency has been much better.
About this improvement in BJP's performance, Mr. Vashishth says that during the last two years, continuous work has been done to strengthen the party and the party has been strengthened at the booth level. He said that people's confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's personality has increased and this has strengthened BJP's graph in Punjab. It will show positive results in the 2027 Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections.
