National School Games: Punjabi boys and girls become champions in Basketball (Under-19)

Patiala, November 26: The 68th National School Games Basketball Under-19 boys and girls competitions were held here from November 20 to 26. The final match of the Basketball Under-19 boys tournament organized under the auspices of the School Games Federation of India was played between Punjab and Rajasthan. In this, Punjab boys defeated Rajasthan boys by 70-46 points to secure the first position.

The final match of the Basketball Under-19 boys tournament organized under the auspices of the School Games Federation of India was played between Punjab and Rajasthan. In this, Punjab boys defeated Rajasthan boys by 70-46 points to secure the first position. 
Kerala defeated Chandigarh by 90-66 points to secure the third position. Similarly, the girls final was played between Punjab and Rajasthan. In this, Punjab girls defeated Rajasthan girls by 60-32 points to secure the first position. Tamil Nadu defeated Maharashtra by 52-41 points to secure the third position. Rajasthan was the runner-up in both boys and girls. 
Sunil Kumar Deputy Director Education Department Punjab Sports Branch and other special guests honored the players of the first, second and third placed teams with medals and winning trophies. Sanjeev Sharma District Education Officer Secondary Patiala thanked the higher officials of the Education Department Punjab for their guidance in organizing the tournament successfully and appreciated the principals, head masters, sports teachers, basketball coaches on duty by the sports department and teachers and support staff performing other duties. Ajitpal Gill Observer School Games Federation of India said that the overall management of the tournament by Patiala district of Punjab was good. 
He said that the basketball teams of all the states have expressed satisfaction with all the arrangements. During the closing ceremony, SCS Sanour presented Shabad and folk dance, while the girls of SCS Old Police Line Patiala presented choreography under the guidance of Principal Mandeep Kaur Antal.
