
PGI Hematology team wins Inter-College Quiz Competition
The Departments of Hematology, Clinical Hematology, and Medical Oncology, along with the Pediatric Hematology Oncology unit, PGIMER, organized an inter-college quiz competition in Benign Hematology today. This quiz was organized to commemorate International Hemophilia Day, observed on 17th April, and International Thalassemia Day, observed on 8th May. These significant days serve as platforms to raise awareness, highlight disease prevention, and promote quality care worldwide.

A total of twenty-two MD residents from surrounding medical colleges in Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu, and Uttarakhand enthusiastically participated in the quiz. The event began with a preliminary round, and subsequently, five teams were shortlisted for the competition. The quiz featured five rounds of audio-visuals, specifically related to the field of Hematology.
Team, PGIMER, Chandigarh secured the first place followed by PGIMS Rohtak in the second place and IGMC Simla as third . The participants expressed it as a very enjoyable learning session . The message of spreading awareness of diseases which can be prevented was stressed upon as well as the importance of hematological disorders in daily practice.
