Una, September 29th - On the occasion of International Disaster Reduction Day, a district-level Safe Building Model Competition will be held on October 4th at the Government Senior Secondary School (Boys), Una, under the Samarth Abhiyan 2025 initiative. Anil Kumar, Deputy Director of Higher Education, Una, stated that this competition is being organized by the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority as part of the public awareness campaign "Samarth 2025." Its objective is to increase student awareness about disaster management, develop their ability to deal with hazardous situations, and ensure the safety of life and property.
Anil Kumar stated that students who won block-level competitions will participate. He explained that high school, senior secondary school, and college-level competitions were held at the block level regarding safe building models. Now, selected participants will showcase their models at the district-level competition.
The Deputy Director stated that all models will be evaluated by a district-level committee consisting of the Deputy Commissioner, Una, the Project Officer (DRDA), and officials from the Public Works Department. He added that the winning students selected at the district level will participate in the upcoming state-level competition on October 8th at CSLC Anandpur Shoghi, Shimla.
The top three winning models from each category (high school, senior secondary, and college) at the state-level competition will be displayed at the DDRR-2025 state-level exhibition and will be awarded cash prizes.
