Nawanshahr- A two-day annual Chhinjh Mela is being organized with great pomp and show at nearby village Bains on 27th and 28th September 2025 with the support of villagers, NRI veterans and devotees. Giving information, Tarsem Singh Bains, member of the organizing committee, said that this Chhinjh Mela is organized every year on the first Saturday and Sunday of Navratri of the native month of Assu, dedicated to the memory of Lord Shri Krishna Ji's elder brother Balram Dau Ji. In which famous wrestlers from famous akharas from all corners of the country and abroad participate.

He said that the fair will start on Saturday, September 27th at the temple of Shri Krishna Baldev Ji as 'Pir'. In which wrestling competitions will be held for the children of the village as well as the wrestlers who have come from outside. The next day, Sunday, September 28, this Chhinj Mela will be held in an open field outside the village. Where famous wrestlers will demonstrate their strength by wrestling.
The organizing committee has made proper arrangements and complete preparations to conduct the fair smoothly and show it live so that NRIs living in the country and abroad can also enjoy this fair. On this occasion, Major Singh Sarpanch, Pardeep Singh, Sandeep Singh, Sucha Singh, Gurpal Singh, Satpal and Sohan Lal etc. were also present.
