Dera Bassi (S.A.S. Nagar), 19 September 2025: MLA of Derabassi constituency S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa today reached Samgoli Grain Market and inaugurated paddy procurement. On this occasion, he congratulated the farmer brothers and said that government procurement in the district has started from September 16 and the arrival of paddy in the markets is in full swing.
He assured that all arrangements have been completed for the smooth running of the procurement process in the markets. He said that the crop brought by the farmers will be purchased on time and the payment will be made within 48 hours.
MLA Randhawa said that this year the procurement of paddy has been started earlier than the previous years so that the farmers get more time to sell their crop. He appealed to the farmers that as per the government-set standards, only paddy with moisture content up to 17 percent should be brought to the markets so that the bidding of the crop can be done on time and the farmers can get the price of their crop without any delay.
He also appealed to the farmers to avoid burning stubble and manage the crop residue responsibly.
On this occasion, SDM Derabassi Amit Gupta, Chairman of the Market Committee, Commission Agent, Representative of the Procurement Agency, Sarpanch and other officials were present in large numbers.
