Chandigarh - Today, on the auspicious occasion of Sarva Pitru Amavasya, Gauri Shankar Sevadal Gaushala, Sector 45D, Chandigarh, performed the Pitru Karma Shraddha Tarpan ritual, a special havan (fire sacrifice) and the Sarva Pitru Tarpan (tarpan for ancestors) ritual, for the well-being of all cow devotees, for the well-being of their families, for peace, prosperity, wealth, and for the alleviation of domestic troubles and ancestral sins.
On this auspicious occasion, Gauri Shankar Sevadal members Sumit Sharma, Vinod Kumar, Rajneesh Rampal, Dilip Rawat, Rahul Mahajan, Kamal Gupta, Surendra, and all cow devotees performed the Pitru Tarpan (fire sacrifice) and havan (fire sacrifice) for their ancestors.
Vinod Kumar, a member of the Sevadal, explained that according to our scriptures and Puranas, performing the Pitru Tarpan (fire sacrifice) repays the debt of the ancestors. Performing the Pitru Tarpan (fire sacrifice) on the Pitru Tithi (the day of the Pitru Tithi) in the month of Ashwin (Ashwini) here grants the ancestors ultimate salvation.
Performing Shraddha rituals for ancestors at the Gaushala is believed to bring about the ultimate salvation for all. One gets freed from the debt of ancestors and by satisfying the ancestors, one paves the way for his own salvation as well and by being satisfied with the Shraddha and by offering tarpan to the ancestors, one gets long life, progeny, blessed grains, all kinds of happiness, heaven and salvation after death and on this day, Shraddha of all ancestors was specially performed.
