
School students are giving a message not to burn stubble
Nawanshahr- On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, students in government schools of the district are being urged not to burn paddy straw or straw as they are being made aware about environmental protection. Appealing to farmers not to burn stubble, Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh said that burning stubble not only damages natural resources but also harms human health, soil fertility and friendly insects. He appealed to the farmers that the target of burning stubble in the district has been set at zero during this Kharif season, which will be achieved only with the cooperation of everyone.

Appreciating the awareness being spread by school students against burning stubble, the Deputy Commissioner said that students are also contributing to environment-friendly activities, which will spread the message to every village. Meanwhile, District Education Officer Anita Sharma said that information is being given about the harmful effects of burning stubble or rice straw in a total of 211 government schools of the district so that students are appealing to the farmers or people of their area to end this trend. She said that the schools are emphasizing on the proper management of stubble by organizing poster, painting and essay competitions for students. She said that the students are also being told that smoke not only has a bad effect on health but also poses a risk of contracting diseases.
The District Education Officer said that special programs have been organized for students at Government Middle School Bharoli, Government Senior Secondary School, Bahlur Kalan, Government Middle School, Kang, Government High School, Takrala, Government Middle School Thanday and Government Middle School Karimpur Chahwala, Government Middle School, Khadkuwal, Government, P.M.Shri Government Senior School, Khothar, Government High School Mutton, Government Middle Smart School, Mangupur, Government High Smart School, Village Taprian, Government High School, Chakkadana, Government High School Shahabpur, Government Middle School Bahad Majra and Government Kanya Senior Secondary School, Daulatpur to make maximum people aware of not burning stubble.
