Farmers made aware about proper management of stubble.

Nawanshahr- Under the ongoing awareness campaign in the district under the leadership of Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, farmers were made aware during a block level farmer training camp at nearby village Karyam today.

In the camp organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Block Nawanshahr, Agricultural Development Officer Dr. Kuldeep Singh gave detailed information about the tools used for stubble management. He said that stubble management tools are available in abundance in the district. He made farmers aware about the benefits of ploughing stubble into the ground and the problems caused due to smoke.
He also informed the farmers that by burning one ton of stubble, essential elements of the soil such as nitrogen 5.5 kg, phosphorus 2.3 kg, potassium 2.5 kg and sulfur 1.2 kg are destroyed. Meanwhile, Agricultural Development Officer Dr. Gurpreet Singh, while giving information about the prevention of common diseases of paddy, said that locusts should be controlled to prevent paddy dwarf disease. For this, information was given about the pesticides used and things to keep in mind during spraying. Engineer Chandan Sarma gave detailed information to the farmers about the subsidy on machinery provided by the department for stubble management. Sarabjit Singh, Agriculture Sub-Inspector, gave detailed information about the solutions to the problems faced by the farmers under the PM Kisan Scheme. He also gave information to the farmers about the wheat seeds provided on subsidy by the department.
