Big step towards drug de-addiction and skill development in Jalandhar: Dr Balbir Singh and Dr Vikramjit Singh Sahni to inaugurate the center.

Jalandhar- As part of an important initiative to fight the evil of drugs and empower the youth, the Health and Family Welfare Department has renovated the Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center at village Sheikhe. Along with this, the Skill Development Center established in collaboration with the District Administration Jalandhar and Sun Foundation will also be inaugurated on October 3, 2025.

Jalandhar- As part of an important initiative to fight the evil of drugs and empower the youth, the Health and Family Welfare Department has renovated the Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center at village Sheikhe. Along with this, the Skill Development Center established in collaboration with the District Administration Jalandhar and Sun Foundation will also be inaugurated on October 3, 2025.
The event will be presided over by Dr Balbir Singh, Minister of Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education, Punjab Government. Rajya Sabha member and Chairman Sun Foundation Dr Vikramjit Singh Sahni and MLA Kartarpur Sahib Mr Balkar Singh will also be present on this occasion.
To make this occasion more important, Dr Raman Gupta, Civil Surgeon Jalandhar; Dr Himanshu Agarwal, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar; and Mr Kumar Rahul, Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department, Punjab will also attend as special guests.
Sun Foundation, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahni, is known for its social service, drug de-addiction campaign and youth empowerment. Over the years, the foundation has given a new direction to the lives of thousands of families across the country. It does not just stop at drug de-addiction, but also inspires the youth to live an independent life by connecting them with employable skills.
On this occasion, Dr. Sahni said, “De-addiction is not just a cure, it is the name of giving a new direction to life. Sun Foundation’s dream is that every rehabilitated youth can connect with some skill or the other and live a life with dignity and autonomy.”
This skill development center set up in Jalandhar will facilitate technical and professional training courses, so that people who have given up drugs can get employment opportunities and rejoin the society with dignity.
This joint effort of the Punjab Government, District Administration and Sun Foundation is being considered an important milestone towards drug de-addiction and youth empowerment.
