Garhshankar - Forests are the biggest strong base for maintaining economic, social, balance and nature cycle, every living being performs its duty impartially from birth to death. In this regard, when Labor Party President Jai Gopal Dhiman came to know about the cutting of Khair trees in Jahankhel forest, he again went to the spot in the forest and informed the Forest Officer of Forest Department, Hoshiarpur about the cutting of about 10 Khair trees. He accused the guards including the range officer of being responsible and strongly condemned the negligence of the Punjab government. Well, the trees are being cut in a very devilish manner. First those trees are decapitated, then when the opportunity arises, the tree is cut down. When a tree is decapitated, the department keeps an eye on it and the rest is cleaned later. He said that when the fence itself starts destroying the fields then how will the forest be protected. Dhiman said that crores of rupees are being spent on the forest department every year. But the duty of the department is only to create forests and make people aware about the importance of trees. But due to the mistakes of the responsible officers of the forest department and the collusion with the forest mafia, almost the entire forest area is being hollowed out to fill their pockets. How unfortunate it is that things keep evolving and the consequences are devastating. Deforestation is also fatal for the lives of wild animals. Dhiman said that the illegal felling of Khair trees around 22,23 on 19 March 2024 was exposed by the real role of the press. But it is surprising that all the departmental actions have remained limited to the gimmicks of the Punjab government. Dhiman said that as long as there are forests on earth, forests play an important role in human life for the balanced environment of Punjab. The biggest thing is that the opposition political parties are also sitting silent and causing harm to the forests. Dhiman demanded from the Honorable Governor Punjab to end the deforestation mafia by transferring everyone including the Divisional Forest Officer of the Forest Department of Hoshiarpur to stop deforestation. He also appealed to the people to come forward to protect the forests.
