Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar March 25, 2025: Special vaccination week is going on successfully in the government health institutions of the district. Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain and District Vaccination Officer Dr. Girish Dogra said that this special vaccination week has started from March 24 and will continue till March 31.
He said that during this week special vaccination sessions are going on at different places, where children and pregnant women are being vaccinated. The main objective of the vaccination week is to ensure health security of children from 0 to 5 years and to strengthen the vaccination coverage of pregnant women.
He said that children and pregnant women who have been deprived of vaccination due to any reason are being covered in special vaccination camps. In these camps, pregnant women and children up to 5 years of age living in areas with migrant population, slums, settlements, brick kilns, high-risk areas etc. are being included. During this campaign, coverage of TD 10 years and TD 16 years is also being ensured and special attention is being paid to 'zero dose' of children. Health officials said that due to vaccination, many other diseases including polio have been eradicated, so vaccination is very important for physical fitness.
He said that all the senior medical officers of the district are organizing special sessions under their supervision, so that no beneficiary is deprived of vaccination. He appealed to the beneficiaries to take maximum advantage of these special camps and get the deprived children and pregnant women vaccinated.
Under the universal vaccination program, complete vaccination of children is very important to protect them from 11 serious diseases like polio, jaundice, tuberculosis, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, pneumonia and diarrhea, measles and rubella and blindness.
