Nawanshahr - District level Republic Day function will be celebrated with full dignity and enthusiasm like every year at ITI Stadium Nawanshahr. On the occasion of this event, Defense Services Welfare and Freedom Fighters Minister, Information and Public Relations Minister Punjab Chetan Singh Jokamajra will hoist the national flag and take salute from the grand march past.
This was expressed by Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa while presiding over the meeting of various departments organized to take stock of the ongoing preparations for the Republic Day at the district level. Apart from others, Dr Akshita Gupta SDM Nawanshahr, Dr Gurleen Kaur Assistant Commissioner General, Sanjana Saxena Good Governance Fellow and officials of various departments were present in this meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials of various departments present during the meeting to perform the assigned duty with full sincerity and diligence and not to let any shortcoming in the district level event. He said that during the district level event, there will be a grand march past by Punjab Police, PT show by school children and patriotic cultural presentations. He said that from this tableaus showing the development and culture of Punjab will also be presented by different departments. He said that the rehearsals for the event will be held on January 22 and 23 at the ITI ground. The full dress rehearsal will be held on January 24. He said that the duties of the concerned departments have been assigned regarding the provision of refreshments for the children participating in the district level event and its rehearsals. The Deputy Commissioner said that on the occasion of the Republic Day, duties have also been taken to decorate the city squares, the statues of national personalities in the city. He asked the officials of the forest department to ensure the distribution of herbal and fruit plants to the large number of people and important personalities coming on the occasion of Republic Day. He said that during the district level event, the freedom fighters, those who made the name of the country bright, those who beat in sports and those who did good work will be honoured. He also instructed to ensure seating arrangements, awnings, drinking water and temporary toilets at the venue of the event at ITI Stadium. He was also asked to make necessary arrangements keeping in mind the arrival of the chief guests and other important personalities on the occasion of Republic Day at Khatkar Kalan. He said that events will also be held at Banga and Balachore at the sub-division level.
