This information was given by District Education Officer (Primary Education) Prem Kumar Mittal in the District Education Development Committee meeting organized by SDM Damandeep Kaur. These schools include Bhagwas, Bar Mazra, Padol, Jhanjeri and Manak Mazra. School of Happiness - will focus on infrastructure and facilities of schools, human resources, achievement of basic education and all-round development of children.
SDM Damandeep Kaur reviewed various ongoing activities under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and Mid-Day-Meal Scheme during the meeting of the District Education Development Committee. District Education Officer (Elementary Education) Prem Mittal informed the Sub Divisional Magistrate that various grants have been received under civil works under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan to upgrade the infrastructure of schools, in which, during October and November 2024, out of the grant of Rs 556.32 lakh for 67 works under the additional grant for the year 2023-24, a grant of Rs 467.26 lakh has been spent, the remaining grant of Rs 89.06 lakh will be spent by 28 February 2025 and the construction work will be completed. Similarly, during November 2024, a grant of Rs 125.82 lakh has been received to upgrade the infrastructure of schools. In the year 2024-25, Rs 645.64 lakh was received for the construction works of 189 different activities (such as additional rooms, art and craft rooms, library rooms, girls and boys toilets, major renovation, science laboratory etc.), out of which a grant of Rs 622.06 lakh has been spent, while the remaining grant of Rs 23.58 lakh will be fully spent by 28 February 2025.
Under the NABARD scheme, the grant received under NABARD 27-B for additional classrooms and interactive panels of Rs 410.10 lakh has been spent and the grant received under NABARD 29 for additional classrooms of Rs 116.47 lakh has been spent and the work is in progress.
He further informed that on Tuesday, 11 February, a mega SMC (School Management Committee) meeting is to be held in all the government schools (primary, middle, high and senior secondary) of the state of Punjab, the theme of which will be 'School Swachhata Education Promotion'. Giving information about mid-day meal in the schools of the district, he said that the first, second and third quarter of grains for mid-day meal of 88532 children studying in UKG, 1st to 5th and 6th to 8th classes in government and aided schools have been distributed by the FCI department and the fourth quarter of grains have been inspected by the FCI and are yet to be distributed. Along with food, fruits (one banana each) are also given in the mid-day meal menu every Saturday.
The facility of providing mid-day meal under PM Poshan Yojana has been started for children with special needs enrolled in government and government aided schools, who come under home based education. SDM Derabassi Amit Gupta was also present on this occasion.
